Insomnia
6/10/98

I found that I was fighting sleep
As I lay myself down
Perceptions muddled by fatigue
Didst in my head go 'round
My body--just a weary weight
Imprinted on the bed
My mind in search of slumber
Restfull refuge for my head
The sandman slowly shuffled by
As if I wasn't there
The reaper, ever waiting,
Tempting me to try his ware
I tossed and turned and tossed again
Into the hours, wee
I found that I was fighting sleep,
Or was sleep fighting me?
