The Korat is one of the
purest breed in existence, due to the fact that for centuries it never left the province
of Korat, an inaccessible, remote area of Thailand. It first left home in 1959, when 2
Americans succeeded in buying a few examples. No attempt has been made to change the breed
in any way and it remains today exactly the same as the cat seen in early engravings.
Affectionate, happy, aware
of everything going on around it, the Korat is a home - loving cat never tempted to wande
far from its house or owners. Its main claim to beauty lies in the color and texture of
its coat. It needs to be given a brush twice a week and a massage daily.
It needs a varied diet with
a lot of meat. It is a good idea to have it vaccinated against respiratory diseases and it
needs to avoid sudden fierce changes of temperature.
