Oil Pastels...
Well, the first time I tried oil pastels, they reminded me a lot of crayons. Just very soft. They go on smooth and blend easily for a mixture of interesting colors. I've only used them on drawing paper and have yet to try them on canvas. Oil Pastels can be used dry, and you can use the hard/light effect on them too. They can also be used with liquid stuff like turpentine, be brushed over with a wet brush, and lots of other stuff. I suggest trying it sometime! My oil pastel set is a Pentel 25 color oil pastel set. :) Pretty nifty and a fair price too.

Male VS Female...
Which one do you think is easier to draw?
Personally, I used to always draw female characters because they were so much easier to draw (females have the same physique). Then after a while, I gathered enough courage to draw (gasp!) males. Yes, I finally drew one, and it sucked majorly. ^_^;;; Well, I improved ok? But it took a lot of practice. Drawing just one gender gets boring after a while. :) So if you're like me, who didn't have the courage to draw males (or vice versa), please try it.

*Cha-Ching!* The Pencil...
The Pencil. The most used tool of all. Well, I now use mechanical pencils, but you get my point. They're great starters. They're eraseable, hideable, and can be used in many ways. I use them as a first step when drawing any kind of art (like the ones on the left) and they just transform everything. A pencil is like a light in the dark. :) They are also good for shading too, and yes, I do shade a lot with pencils, and no, it's not impossible and I'm not crazy. There are all sorts of lead types, I usually use No. 2 mechanical pencils, the lead sizes ranging from 0.3 to 0.5. The pencil should be your planner, it's used to plan everything out. :)
