God, I never knew that I was so geeky looking as a kid.
Well this is someplace on the road. I think it is international falls.
The problem with this section is that it was so long ago,
and I did not label any pictures, and that most of the pictures
Grandpa took were slides. I have two boxes full of slides in
my closet, and no way of transferring them to the net. It's too bad,
cause there are some really good ones.

This was at a round-up someplace in Vermont.
I remember it was on a lake, and it was the first time I saw a
"bug zapper" in use. Also I remember that during the chicken BBQ,
the chicken wasn't cooked all the way through, and Grandpa
 and others bitching about it.

On our way to Yellowstone.
I always wondered, if you took a leak here,
would it flow east or west?

I think this was going through the black hills.

The planet Vulcan.  No Really, get out your dvd of
Star Trek: The Motion Picture, and this is Vulcan,
They filmed all the scenes here just a
month before we arrived.

Could have met Mr. Spock!

Jackson Hole, WY and the home of our relatives the Johnson's.
This was the towns bar. Next to it was the market, across the
street was the hotel and post office. That was it.
It was inside at Rosie's bar, with a bunch of farmhands that
I had my first beer, and Oly, and thought people drink this?
I still am not a big beer drinker, but when I do it's Shiner,
the best beer ever!

Betty & Ben's house. I thought it was cool that these
"farmers" (little did I know then) were using solar power
for their heating and hot water. (This was 1981)

bunk houses for the ranch hands

Inside the bunk house.
There are some stories here let me tell you.
Beer was involved. I got my first drunk here!

Yee Haw, I was driving a tractor, scatteraking the hay.
I thought this was fun, they called it work!

Well it was a big bale!

It was on this 3-wheeler, in a parallel universe I was killed.
But in this universe my guardian angel saved me when
the bike tipped over going up a creek bed. It hung in the air
just long enough for my brain to process, "Roll Idiot!"
and I rolled out of the way. The bike came crashing down on
top of my former position. Shaken, and muddy, I got back on
it and kept riding. Now I know why they eliminated the
production of 3 wheelers.

Escanaba was happy we were there.
This is the town where what would become my little fictional land of
A:STG (Assignment: Save The Galaxy) would be born.

Avions everywhere

On Stage with my Teen Queen as
we practiced giving up our crowns!

I think the guy on the left is Ev Satterly from what I remember.
Now on the right was our traveling partner Karl Raddemaker.
He was a great guy, and he worked on church organs for a living.
I still think of him when I am at church, and the mighty pipes are on.

Karl's wife Jerry. She was a great lady.
The four of us would play
some wild cribbage games while traveling!

Along the way up to Hudson's Bay

This was too cool. It was like 80 out side and this was a glacier.
We were in Glacier national park here., and yes that is me

Grandpa striking a pose. I wonder what he was thinking there?

From what I remember this was a Chinese
 restaurant in Thompson, Manitoba
