NEVER SAY "NEVER"

"Never say NEVER" the old man said to the young boy at his knee,
"For when we do we close the door to opportunity.
We make a big commitment and lose that spark of hope
Which, even when we say goodbye leaves room enough and scope
To heal the wounds and make amends,
To be apart but still be friends:
We burn no bridges, break no ties,
Except with wrongful deeds and lies." |

In time, that young boy grew to be a man of stature great.
His dealings with his fellow men were honest, kind and straight.
The old man's words had struck a chord and backed by noble deed,
The lessons about honesty became his life-long creed.
He preached and lived by what he knew
That peaceful spirit comes to few.
For only those with naught to hide
Can walk with Jesus at their side. |
