Memoirs Of An Unknown Poet
by Joseph C. Hinson
I now have three installments uploaded, Memoirs To Little Rock, Memoirs To Longview and Memoirs Back To Memphis. I plan on posting more in the near future. Memoirs Of An Unknown Poet is the story of Ray Edwards. When the story begins, he's 15 years old and has the vision to become a college basketball player in the near future and then onto the NBA. What's more is that he has the talent.
But life throws him a few curves and before long, he finds himself working at a grocery store while his teammates come close to winning the state title. A car wreck has caused him to injure his knees to the point that doing anything more than shooting hoops in the driveway is a fading dream for him. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Little Rock finds Ray there with his English professor and the editor of the University of Memphis newspaper. The lead up to this segment will explain why what happens in that hotel happens.
As noted, the story is part of a greater whole. I think it stands on it's own though. It's roughly thirty pages and nearly 17,400 words at present. I hope to have more parts of Memoirs posted ASAP.
