Questions Kids Ask About God

Question: Why does Jesus want us to follow Him?

Answer: Jesus told the people to follow Him because He is the way to God, heaven, and eternal life. When Jesus was on earth, the disciples and others followed Him by walking close to Him and listening to His words. Today, we follow Jesus by copying His example and by doing what He says.

Key Bible verses:
Matthew 16:24-26; Matthew 4:19

My views:
Jesus wants us to follow Him because He loves us. He does it not to gain wealth and fame, or elevate His own ego. He wants us to follow Him because it is the best thing for us. Following Jesus is the only way to salvation. Before I became a Christian, I thought doing good works alone was sufficient to enter heaven, however I realized that my good works alone are not sufficient for salvation. First, how much good works is enough? Is donating a billion dollars to a charitable organization or looking after thousands of physically challenged orphans sufficient? How about donating one of my kidneys, pints of blood, both corneas, portion of my liver, and bone marrow to the sick while I am still alive? Will it be sufficient for salvation? The answer to all of these questions is no. Something is preventing us from going to heaven even when we do good works. That thing is called sin, and everyone of us is sinful and has fallen short of God's glory (Romans 3:23). Subsequently, the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). But God loves us so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to take our place on the cross for our sins (John 3:16-17). By the shedding of Jesus' blood, we are all redeemed of our sins (Romans 5:8). However, this is the question that separates life and death: do you believe that Jesus died for your sins? Do you want to follow Jesus? If you say yes to both questions, click here.

Last words...
"Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.' " (John 14:6)
