| PAST ISSUE # 25 Questions Kids Ask About God Question: How do you get Jesus in your heart? Answer: You become a Christian by asking Jesus to take over your life. You know that you have done wrong things, that you have sinned, and you recognize that you need Jesus to forgive your sins. So you tell Jesus about your sins and that you are sorry, and you ask for His forgiveness. Then you obey what Jesus says. Key Bible verses: Romans 3:21-26; John 5:24; 1 John 1:8-9 My views: Many people I know proclaim themselves to be Christians but, to me, their actions were considered "unchristian-like." Before I came to know Jesus, I told myself that I was not going to become a Christian because I thought church-going Christians were a bunch of hypocrites. The "Christians" I knew would gossip, lie, back stab, and simply fail to practice what they preached. I told myself that I would not partake in a religion whose members are such. Today, I proudly declare myself as a Christian. How did my perspective of Christianity turn 180 degrees? Well, I realized that I was a sinner, despicable even to myself. I felt disgusted with my sinfulness that I willingly humbled myself and asked God to forgive me. I accepted Jesus into my life and became clean because He had forgiven my sins. As a Christian, Jesus is now living in my heart, and I try my utmost to follow His commandments which are to love God first, and my neighbors as myself (regardless of their religious beliefs) (Matthew 22:34-40). As a mere human, I cannot be perfect like Jesus. Like the people who I earlier mentioned; I, too, occasionally commit mistakes. But, because Jesus is living in my heart, He prompts me to repent of my sins and seek His forgiveness when I err. Jesus helps me to seek righteousness and holiness. Therefore, all who profess themselves to be Christians should do good because we are living testimonies of Jesus who is dwelling in us. If we do evil, people outside the faith, like pre-Christian self, would look terribly at us and Christianity. We have a responsibility to God and the world to uphold the good name of Christ because we proudly bear His glorious Name. So, are you a person who calls him/herself a Christian for name's sake or God's sake? Would you like to rededicate your life to God? Or, if you have never experienced God's redeeming power, would you like to invite Jesus into your life now so that you will be cleansed of your sins? If yes, please click here. Last words... "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (2 Corinthians 5:17) Next Source:
