| PAST ISSUE # 26 Questions Kids Ask About God Question: Why do some people die before they are old? Answer: Death entered the world when sin came in. Ever since Adam and Eve, pain and death have been part of life. Eventually, everything that is alive in our world has to die. Plants die. Animals die. People die. Death can come from a lot of different causes: automobile accidents, sickness, old age, and so forth. And life is short, no matter how long a person lives. Just ask someone who is sixty or seventy or eighty. Remember that because life is short, we should make the most of every day we are alive. Each breath is a gift from God. But also remember that this life is not all there is. After we die we can live forever with God. Key Bible verses: Philippians 1:21-23; 2 Corinthians 5:6 My views: My maternal grandfather recently celebrated his 89th birthday. Our family thank God for blessing him with such good health and longevity. However, he does not see it as a blessing to live so long. He considers himself useless or unproductive as he spends his days idling away. His hearing problem has not helped much to bolster communication between him and his family. He participates in family activities but I know that he is not there in spirit. His thoughts are on other matters which I suspect are on life and death. I am thankful that my grandfather believes in Jesus Christ. I hope that he would be able to be with God when he passes away. Perhaps, that is why my grandfather looks forward to seeing his maker. He always confides in us that his time is coming soon - 2 or 3 years time. But only God knows the time. Let me pose you this simple question: do you know your time? If you know, at least you can prepare your impeding death. If you don't, what should you do? Should we live a life fearing or worrying about death; or should we live a life in the knowledge of God's promise of eternal life? Which life do you wish to live? "(Jesus is speaking) I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."
