| PAST ISSUE # 27 Questions Kids Ask About God Question: How can God be three persons and one person at the same time? Answer: We don't know how God can be three persons at the same time, but we know He is because the Bible tells us so. The idea of three in one (the Trinity) is very hard to understand. Some people use the example of water. Water can be a liquid, a gas, or a solid. We usually see water in liquid form, as when we use it for drinking or for taking a bath. But water can also be a gas, as when it turns to steam. And it can be a solid, in the form of ice. But whether liquid, gas, or solid, it's still water. In some ways God is like a family with father, mother, and child - three persons and one family. Just remember that the Trinity does not mean that we have three gods. There is one God with three persons. The Trinity also does not mean that God wears three hats, or takes on three roles, at different times. All three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - have always existed. Key Bible verses: Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; John 14:7, 9-10 My views: Before I was a Christian, I did not know that there was three persons in the Godhead. I know a little about Jesus but I did not think He was God. I also did not know much about the Holy Spirit then. Basically, I was ignorant. The concept of the Trinity was alien and too abstract for my understanding. Non-Christians and even some new Christians have great difficulty in comprehending this doctrine. But, simply because it is difficult to understand, it does not mean that it does not exist. The Trinity - God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit exists. All three persons in one. All three persons are considered one God. All three persons are omnipresent and equal in power and glory. As a Christian, I can pray to any one of them because they are God. Please note that it is not Gods but the singular God. I am not praying to different Gods but to one God even when I pray at different times to different persons in the Godhead, i.e. God the Father, the Son (Jesus) or the Holy Spirit. I may sound like contradicting myself but I am not. In my opinion, a non-believer will not be able to understand the Trinity but a true believer is able to after a short period of time. How? The Holy Spirit, the third person in the Godhead, helps Christians to gain knowledge, wisdom and understanding. The Holy Spirit has helped me to better understand the Bible - God's Word (John 14:26, 16:13). If you do not know God, would you like the Holy Spirit to give you a better understanding of God's Word and His plan for your life? If yes, please click here. Last words... "May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all." (2 Corinthians 13:14) Next Source:
