| PAST ISSUE # 30 Questions Kids Ask About God Question: Why do we go to church if God is everywhere? Answer: In the Bible, God tells us to join other Christians and worship Him. We should spend time alone, praying and reading His Word (Bible). But is is also very important to get together with others who follow Christ. We can encourage and strengthen each other. We can pray for each other. We can learn from each other. We can sing and praise God together. We can serve and help each other. All of this can happen in church. Church is also a place where Christians of all ages and types can come together - babies, grandparents, children, poor, wealthy, brown, black, white, Caucasian, Asian, African, weak, strong, and so on. Something very special happens when God's family gets together. Key Bible verses: Psalm 100:1-3; Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:25; 1 Corinthians 12:12-31 My views: Before I became a Christian, I wonder why Christians go to church every Sunday. In the past, my father would literally drag me to church. I found church service monotonous and dull. But my boredom stems primarily from the fact that I was an outsider instead of a participant. Back then, I had not accepted Jesus into my life and found church service meaningless. Well, it is a different story now. I look forward to attending church every Sunday. I personally find God's presence is magnified especially during church service because many Christians are praying and calling upon God's Name (Matthew 18:20). On certain Sundays, the pastor's sermon would strike me with truth and boldness (Hebrews 4:12). In addition, worshipping and praising God at church is our way of showing our love for God. We can certainly worship and praise God on our own but the experience is different in a church setting. When we come together as a body of believers, our love for God is pooled in unity and spirit. For example, compare one singing voice to hundreds or even thousands of singing voices. In the same way, compare one believer's love for God to that of hundreds or thousands of believers. I certainly think God is pleased when we come together to worship, praise and love Him. If you are a Christian and have not been attending church regularly, ask yourself why? I hope your reasons are valid rather than petty. Focus on God rather than the church building, the pastor or the congregation. If you are a non-believer, ask yourself why you are not a member of God's church? I am sure you have many reasons but are they so important that they are stopping you from knowing God's love and purpose for you? Last words... "(Jesus is speaking) God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." (John 4:24) Next Source:
