| PAST ISSUE # 37 Questions Kids Ask About God Question: What is sin? Answer: Sin is rebellion against God. Adam and Eve committed the first sin in human history when they disobeyed God's instructions not to eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:16-17, 3:6-24). From then on, humans have a tendency to sin (Romans 3:23, 5:12-14). In the Old Testament, we saw how the Israelites rebelled against God by disobeying His commandments and His prophets' warnings. In the present, we still continue to sin by lying, stealing, gossiping, murdering, rejecting Jesus Christ and so on. Key Bible verses: Numbers 14:18; 1 Samuel 15:23; Psalms 66:18, 106:43; Jeremiah 33:8; Romans 6:23; James 1:14-15; 1 John 3:4 My views: In my life, I have frequently rebelled against God. I have done many things which are unpleasing to the Holy God. God is amazingly wonderful and merciful. He patiently waits for me to be convicted of my sinfulness so that I will confess and ask for His forgiveness. If I have not asked Jesus to cleanse my sin, I would have died in sin (John 8:21). If Jesus did not die on the Cross for our sins, you and I would have to bear the penalty of our sin which is death (Romans 6:23). But God, in His grace and love, sent His only begotten Son to take our place on the Cross (John 3:16-17). And that is why it is called the Good News - we need not die in sin because Jesus has died for our sin so that we may have eternal life (Mark 16:15-16). Related topic in Issues # 15 and # 19. Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for sending Your Son to die for my sin so that I may have eternal life. Your gift of salvation is truly wonderful for all the riches of this world cannot repay your grace and love. Father God, I believe Jesus has died for my sin and I invite Him into my life. Father God, please send Your Holy Spirit to dwell in me so that I may lead a life of righteousness and holiness which will be pleasing to You. Father God, thank You for everything that You have done for me. Please accept my prayers for the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen. Last words... "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23) Next Source:
