| PAST ISSUE # 38 Questions Kids Ask About God Question: Why do we give money to the church every Sunday? Answer: We give money to church every Sunday because the church needs our money to function properly. The money the church collects from us is used for many important things, such as maintaining the church building, buying bibles, paying the salaries of the pastoral staff, and funding mission trips to countries which have not heard the Gospel. When we give money to the church, we should do it with a cheerful attitude because we know that it is for the expansion of God's kingdom on earth. Key Bible verses: Numbers 18:21-28; Malachi 3:8-10; 2 Corinthians 9:6-12; Mark 12:41-44 My views: Tithing or giving money to the church is one of our duties as Christians. So, how much should we give to the church? In the Old Testament, the Jews were instructed to give a tenth of their income to the priests (Numbers 18:26-27). Most Christians today follow this guideline by giving a tenth of their gross income to their church. However, we can give as much or as little as we want. In the end, the amount of money we give to the church is between God and us. We should be confident that the amount of money we give to the church will be of great use for the expansion of God's kingdom on earth. For example, ten dollars may not seem much but God will multiply it for a great purpose (John 6:5-14). Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the material blessings you have showered upon me and my family. I thank You that I will not starve or thirst if I I place my trust in You as my Provider. Please forgive me when I complain and grumble for not having enough or covet other people's possessions. I know that You have given me more than I can ever ask for. Most importantly, I want to thank You for Your priceless gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. I know that I can never repay this gift, as such, I want to dedicate my life to Your Son. Please empower and equip me so that I can serve and glorify Your holy Name. I ask all of these in Your Son's precious Name. Amen. Last words... "Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all." (1 Chronicles 29:11-12) Next Source:
