| PAST ISSUE # 43 Questions Kids Ask About God Question: How do I become a member of the body of Christ? Answer: The body of Christ is normally known as the Church, and Jesus is the head (Colossians 1:18). We can become members of the body of Christ by following Jesus Christ. Following Jesus means we have to accept Him as our Savior and Lord, and obey His commandments (John 10:27). Key Bible verses: Romans 12:5; 1 Corinthians 10:17, 12:13; Colossians 3:15 My views: I attend an Anglican church in Singapore and I wonder why there are so many different churches and denominations. I always wonder if Christians from other churches and denominations belong to the body of Christ. I have learnt that they do, even though they teach, pray or worship differently. In our differences, we have one unifying commonality - our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As an Anglican, I am happy to pray with other Christians from other churches and denominations as long they follow Jesus. However, it is important to be cautious as not every church or denomination follows Jesus (2 Peter 2:1, Revelation 2:4). Also beware of churches or denominations which preach a Jesus who is contrary to the Holy Bible (2 Corinthians 11:4). With so many false churches and cults, how can we discern which church is the right one for us? Well, the next QKAG newsletter will try to answer that question. In the meantime, if you desire to become a member of body of Christ, do pray the prayer mention below. Membership has many privileges, and one of them is being called a child of God (John 1:12). I want to invite You into my life as my personal Lord and Savior. Please give me more faith, wisdom, and love so that I can grow to be righteous and pleasing to You. Thank You for your love and the gift of eternal life. Amen. Last words... "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." (1 Corinthians 12:27) Next |
