Questions Kids Ask About God

Question: What did the Holy Spirit do, and what is He doing in my life now?

Answer:
The Holy Spirit did many things. He was present in the creation of the universe (Genesis 1:2) and us, humans (Job 33:4). He was the author of the Holy Bible (2 Peter 1:20-21). He teaches us how to understand the Holy Bible (John 14:26, 16:14). In relation to Jesus Christ, our Lord Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:18-20). Jesus was anointed by and filled with the Holy Spirit while He was on earth (Matthew 3:16; John 3:34-35). Jesus was also raised from the dead by the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:11).
To answer the second question, the Holy Spirit does wonderful things in our lives. Before we become Christians, the Holy Spirit convicts us of our sins so that we may humble ourselves and ask for God's forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (
John 16:7-11). By inviting Jesus into our hearts, God sends His Holy Spirit to live in us as a deposit till the end of time (Ephesians 1:13-14). As such, the Holy Spirit is now living in all believers. He guides us to lead a holy and righteous life (Galatians 5:16-25). He empowers us to be living witnesses of God's glory and love (Acts 1:8). He teaches us to know and understand God's will and purpose (John 14:26). The Holy Spirit even gives us gifts (1 Corinthians 12:1-11).  The Holy Spirit certainly does many wonderful things in our lives. Related topic in Issue # 52.

Key Bible verses:

John 16:7-15; Revelation 2:7

My views:
At last week's Sunday school, my 11 year old nephew shared a testimony with us. During ministry time, my nephew was being prayed for and he told us that he felt warmth. After the service, my nephew started to cry on the way back. His mother asked him what had happened. He said that he didn't know except that he felt joyful and touched by God. Isn't it wonderful that God can touch a child like my nephew (Mark 10:14).
My nephew's testimony is not an exception because many children have been touched by God. At my church camp in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia this June, many children were touched by God and had visions. Several children were ministered by the Holy Spirit and were healed emotionally. It was wonderful how God can touch and heal the little ones. So, what is stopping you from experiencing the power and glory of God through the Holy Spirit?

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I ask for Your Holy Spirit to guide me to the path of righteousness. I ask for Your Holy Spirit to teach me to understand your Word and will. I ask for Your Holy Spirit to empower me so that I will be an effective witness of the Gospel of Christ. I ask for your Holy Spirit to give me the gifts so that I can glorify Your Name. I praise You and thank You for the Holy Spirit. In Jesus Christ's most precious Name, I pray. Amen.

Last words...

"In the last days, God says, 'I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on My servants, both men and women, I will pour out My Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.' " (Acts 2:17-18)
