Questions Kids Ask About God

Question: What is spiritual warfare?

Answer: Spiritual warfare is a battle between God's angels and the demons in the heavenlies (Daniel 10:2-14). When we become Christians, we also enter into a battle with Satan and his agents. However, we should not be fearful because we have Jesus Christ as our Supreme Commander who has already won the battle against evil and death (1 Corinthians 15:22-27). Christians are subjected to spiritual attacks by Satan in many different ways. For example, Christians can be afflicted with illnesses or they can be tempted to disobey God (Job 2:7; 1 Thessalonians 3:5).

Key Bible verses:
Matthew 4:10; Romans 16:20; 2 Thessalonians 2:8; Hebrews 2:14; 1 John 2:14, 3:8, 4:4, 5:18; Revelation 20:10

My views:
After becoming a Christian, I realize that Satan attacks us in many different ways. When I am scheduled to teach at my church's Sunday school, I would suddenly get a bad sore throat. Or, when I want to share Christ with my non-Christian friend, something always comes up to prevent me from talking to my friend. Coincidence? I doubt it. It is likely the work of Satan because he does not want me to do God's work of preaching the Good News. So, do we have to sulk in defeat because Satan always ploys to stumble us? Certainly not! God has given us His Supreme Commander, Christ Jesus, and the necessary spiritual weapons to defend ourselves and fight against Satan and his demons. I will share with you more about these spiritual weapons in the next newsletter. Related topic in Issues # 17, 55.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I thank You for conquering death when You died on the cross for my sins. I thank You that I can put my trust in You because You will lead me to victory and eternal life. I praise and exalt You. Truly, You are worthy of all praise and honour because at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:10-11). Hallelujah! In Your mighty Name, Amen.

Last words...
"They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings--and with Him will be His called, chosen and faithful followers." (Revelation 17:14)
