| PAST ISSUE # 71 Questions Kids Ask About God Question: Why was Jesus born? Answer: Jesus was born for a number of reasons. First, He was sent by His Father, God to redeem humankind of their sins by dying on the cross (Mark 10:45; Ephesians 1:7). Second, He came to establish a new covenant based on grace rather than the law (Matthew 26:28; Hebrews 12:24). Third, He came to reconcile us, sinners with God the Father by His blood (Mark 15:38; John 10:30, 14:6; Romans 5:10-11; 2 Corinthians 5:18-19; Hebrews 10:19-20). Fourth, He came to preach the good news to the lost (Luke 4:43). Fifth, He came to save those who believe in Him (John 1:12, 3:16-18; 1 Timothy 4:10). Sixth, He came to fulfill the prophecy about Him (Isaiah 7:14, 9:6; Matthew 5:17). Seventh, He came to teach us how to live a life pleasing to God (Matthew 22:36-38; Mark 6:6, 34). Key Bible verses: Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-56, 2:1-40; John 1:1-18 My views: Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world. The world can try to secularize it by focusing on Santa Claus rather than Jesus. But it can never take Christ away from Christmas. This Christmas, let us remember why His birth is so important to us. Jesus came to "seek and to save what was lost." (Luke 19:10) We were once lost and now are found. Do you know anyone who is still lost? Your love ones? A neighbour? A colleague? This Christmas, let it be our desire to share God's gift with the lost. Related topic in Issues #14, 15, 20, 22, 23, 25. Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son to suffer and die for us. Thank You for being with me through this year. As Christmas approaches, give me a heart of compassion for the lost like Your Son's. Give me the burden to share the good news with the lost. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
