| PAST ISSUE # 73 Questions Kids Ask About God Question: Will the world get better or worse in the coming years? Answer: The Bible says that the world will get worse (Matthew 24:12). There will be wars, earthquakes and famines (Matthew 24:7). People will fight against one another and do wicked things (2 Timothy 3:1-5). Christians will also be persecuted and killed for their faith in Jesus Christ (Revelation 7:14). However, thank be to God, we have the living hope in Jesus who will save those who persevere and keep the faith during the hard time (Matthew 24:13). Key Bible verses: Matthew 24:4-14; 2 Timothy 3:1-5; 2 Peter 3:3 My views: If we read the newspaper or watch the news on television, it is easy to say that the hard time is already here. For the past months, there are devastating earthquakes in Turkey, Mexico, Taiwan and other parts of the world (Matthew 24:7). There are rumours of potentially explosive wars between Pakistan and India, Taiwan and China, and many more (Matthew 24:6). In the last century, more people died in World War I and II than in any event in the history of humankind. So, is the end coming soon? It is difficult to say. As year 2000 approaches, let us, Christians, not be alarmed or hysterical but continue to remain faithful and live holy lives. Let us continue to love and do good in a dark and lost world. Let us focus on God rather than on signs and events. Let us be united in Spirit and truth rather than be divided over doctrines and ideologies. Let it be our new year's resolutions to do all of these things. Related topic in Issues #36. Prayer: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. (Matthew 6:9-13, NKJV) Last words... "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
