Questions Kids Ask About God

Question: What is quiet time?

Answer: Quiet time is a time to spend with God in prayer and reading His Word (Bible). Christians do quiet time every day so that they can know God's will and purpose for them. Quiet time is liken to a conversation with God. We converse with Him through our prayers and in turn, He sometimes replies through His Word and Holy Spirit.

Key Bible verses:
Psalm 5:3, 119:9-11,18,97; Daniel 6:10; Matthew 4:4; Mark 1:35, 6:46; Luke 5:16, 6:12; Acts 17:11; Colossians 4:2; Hebrews 4:12

My views:
Many Christians complain that they have no time to do their quiet time with God. But, if they have time to read the newspaper or their favorite novel, watch their favorite show on the television, or talk on the phone with their friends; they should make time for God. God enjoys our quiet time with Him. He desires hearing our prayers. He desires seeing us grow in wisdom through His Word and Holy Spirit. Many Christians argue that going to church is adequate for spiritual feeding, but it is not enough. Church service is like a Sunday banquet while daily quiet time is like your daily meals. If you only get your spiritual nourishment from the Sunday banquet, it will not sustain you for a whole week. Therefore, you need daily quiet time to meet your daily spiritual needs. Many Christians also complain that they don't know how to do quiet time. I will discuss this in the next issue. Related topic in Issues # 12, 16, 24, 28, 61

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank You that You have been good to me. I thank You for Your Word and Holy Spirit. Please forgive me when I have not prioritize my time with You. Please forgive me for being lazy and indifferent to praying to You, studying Your Word and hearing Your Holy Spirit. Help me to prioritize my time with You so that I can know Your will and purpose for my life. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Last words...
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path." (Psalm 119:105)
