Frequently asked Questions!
Q: Does it Hurt?
A: Yes, there is some discomfort involved in the process of getting a tattoo and or a piercing
The best way I can explain getting a tattoo is like having a sunburn scratched. you know, that burning sensation you get when you scratch a sunburn or if you were to pop yourself continuously
with a rubber band. Piercing is very quick at first like someone pinches you real hard then
it feels sore afterwards for awhile depending on what type of piercing you get. Remeber, "It's permanant, it's suposed to hurt!" (Thanks Reno..LOL)
Q: How much do tattoos cost?
A: Our shop minimum is $35, and they go up from there, depending on how big it is, how much detail is
involved and where you put the tattoo on your body.
Q: Do you charge extra for color?
A: Tattoos are usually sold by "time", how long and how detailed the image is. As an example, a smiley face has less detail than a rose, therefore the smiley face would be cheaper. Size is also an issue.
Q: Can I bring my own design?
A: You bet, in fact we'd like to encourage you to come up with something charecteristic or unique to you! If you can't
find what you're looking for, you can have one of our artists draw something up for you. It's cool to be original!
Q: How do I take care of my new tattoo/piercing?
A: All of our artists will give you instructions on proper aftercare of your new
tattoo/piercing. The best advice is DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE ELSE EXCEPT FOR YOUR ARTIST!
Q: I am not sure if I want a tattoo, can I get a temporary to try out?
A: Yes, there are many people who sell temporary tattoos. Our advice is to either buy a temporary to wear and try out to see if you like looking at that every day. Be sure that you do want a tattoo before getting inked for life, this won't wash off like the temps do.
Q: Can't I just get pierced at the "mall"?
A: We have found is that the only thing that they pierce you with at the "malls" are studs. A stud is just some type of stainless steel ball with a sharp end that is shoved through the
skin and a back is applied to it. This method is not recommended by us and we do not
pierce with a piercing "gun". We use very sharp hollowed out piercing needles, surgical
stainless steel captive bead rings, and forceps( to ensure proper placement). The area
is cleaned, forceps are applied, and the needle is pushed through making a clean hole in which the
jewelry will go into easily without excessive trauma. The main problem with "mall" piercings is aftercare.
When the stud is shoved through, the skin from the hole is still there and can remain to cause scar
tissue and keloids( keloids are big scar bumps resembling pimples) which are very hard
to get rid of. As opposed to studs, we pierce with rings, which are much easier to rotate
and clean thoroughly, where as studs can be hard to turn and clean properly. And sometimes
the back of the stud can attatch itself to the skin leftover from the piercing and may have
to be surgically removed. Also, we are required by law to sterilize all of our instruments
with an autoclave (the same thing your doctor, or dentist uses to sterilize all of his or
her instruments). Something not done when getting pierced with a "gun". All this in mind,
we recommend going to a reputable licensed piercing shop to get any or all of your piercings
done.
