Finishing inside and instrument panel.

The Landy had a manual temperature gauge when I got her. I decided to install an electrical temperature gauge instead, and while I'm at it, install an oil temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge and a volt meter. Had to install a push button for the glow plugs as well. I decided to put the three additional gauges to the right of the steering wheel together with the push button. The reason for putting the push button to the right instead of in the center with the ignition switch, starter button etc. is that I don't want any passengers pushing that button while driving. (There are such passengers that fiddle with every and all buttons.) I had to cut and fit a piece of alluminium plate to form a dash. It took some time to cut the holes and the half circle to fit around the steering wheel housing, After that it was just a matter of painting it and fitting all the instruments into place.

I also had to replace the ignition/light switch combination as the switch gave some problems. Bought an ignition switch and a separate light switch from the local spares place as I couldn't get hold of an original combination switch. This however eliminated the need for a push button to engage the starter (which also eliminates the temptation of passengers to push a button), so I fitted the light switch in place of the push button., moved the ignition switch closer to the steering wheel and in place of the big hole left by the original combination switch, I fitted a digital tachometer. Now I have a visual indication of the rpm which will help towards the preservation of  the engine.

As a result of the Diesel conversion I had no use for the choke. I "converted" the choke into a hand throttle. Now those tricky off-road situations are a bit easier with precise throttle control via the hand throttle.

I will post a couple of pictures here:
