Tread plate fitted on the fenders/wings.

I bought a sheet of Aluminium tread plate to cover the top portion of the wings mainly because I find it very difficult to work on the Landy standing next to her. It is much easier sitting on the wings and then have the tools next to me on the fender. Unfortunately it damages the paint on the fender so the tread plate will prevent damage to the fender's paint work and it is strong and durable enough not to look bad once a couple of pieces of tools and me has spend some time on them.

The plate was cut by taking the fenders of and turning them upside down onto the back of the tread plate, marking the edges with a marker pen and then cutting the plate with a grinder. The edges were smoothed by putting a sanding disc on the drill with medium grain sand paper and sanding the edges.

I then bolted the rear of the tread plate together with the rear of the fender onto the Landy using the existing mounting for the fender. I bolted the tread plate to the fender through the mirror holes, as I removed the mirrors to fit them on the doors.

I did not want to drill additional holes in the fenders so I just used Silicone to "glue" the front portion of the tread plate to the fenders. I used aquarium silicone to avoid algae growth on the silicone. (Don't know if it will help, I'll just have to see.)

The tread plate on the wings are loosely fitted on the wings. Next step was to drill holes that corresponds with the old mirror holes and then the silicone on the bottom.
