Dave Elsworth's MMR Vaccine Latest Information Page
The information on this page is the latest information I have regarding obtaining the MMR vaccines seperately in the UK.

Note: I am not a medical professional and this site is purely my thoughts plus information that other people have sent me and should not be used instead of seeking professional medical advice.

  • Received via email: Measles & Mumps readily available at Direct Health 2000 Private clinic who will either inject the vaccine or send it for your G.P. to do

  • Received via email: I was given a letter of yours re the above and I thought that I would let you know that I have just started my daughter of a course of single vaccines. They are being given to her by a private GP in Edinburgh who has brought in 200 batches of each vaccine. the cost of each one is 50 or 120 if you have all three done by him.

  • Received via email: Having located your page on the net I contacted my GP to enquire whether she would administer the vaccine if I were able to obtain it. Fortunately she agreed to do it without any questions whatsoever. I then contacted the Pharmacist Andrew McCoig in Coyrdon who advised that if the GP gave me the perscription I should be able to obtain the measles vaccine from my local chemist. Needless to say they were unable to provide me with the vaccine and I was advised that the manufacture would only supply it if it was ordered by the GP. I took the percription to Andrew McCoig last week. He walk out the back to the pharmacy and came back with the vaccine - it almost feels like there is some kind of conspiracy going on !
The only down side is that the leaflet inside the vaccine requires translation as it is written in French and German. Forunately one of the GP's at my surgery is German so my GP is going to get him to translate it.
Thanks for the helps you have provided through you website. My baby girl is due to have her first jab next week.

  • Believed no longer true: Received via email: You don't have to buy the rubella as that is of course freely available on the NHS. Alternatively, the swiss manufacturer IDS imports to british doctors surgeries. They are contactable on 0181 410 0710.
If all this fails, the Hertford British Hospital in France ** no longer ** allows British parents to phone and book an appointment to have the measles and mumps injections, but if you get an E111 form from the local post office before going out there, it will be free. They can be contacted on 003 314 639 2237.

  • Received via email, note the "I" is not me: I'm not sure the swiss maker of the drug is Idis, by the way - they are a drug wholesaler in this country and will supply GPs with information on how to obtain the vaccine separately - I think the vaccines come from a company in Berne called Berna

  • Andrew McCoig (see below) now has an information sheet he will fax or send people.

  • Received via email, note the "I" is not me: I am please to report that I have today confirmed that Mr Andrew McCoig, a pharmacist from Croydon (direct phone line 0181 654 1762), Surrey, England, has been able to purchase single jabs overseas. It is therefore possible for the NHS doctors to buy from his practice and inject if they wish. If not, as in my case, I have to pay privately for a specialist to carry out the deed, 55.00 per injection. During the last 12 months I have been told by all local G.P's and part time private paediatricians that it is impossible to purchase single jabs. After spending many hours on the internet and phone I have finally secured the single jabs, due to be administered next week. Please advise via your web page that the price is 35.50 per injection and stocks are updated regularly, we need not be dictated to by our Government or our G.P's.

  • I have recently received an email telling me that a parent has managed to obtain the vaccines seperately from their GP on the NHS. They believe that the vaccines are from the Swiss manufacturer IDIS, possibly called Rouvax. The GP had difficulties in obtaining the vaccine and was repeated told it had been withdrawn last year.

  • A number of people have emailed me regarding obtaining the vaccines seperately which I believe is possible in the UK. The following article from the BBC talks about the three seperate jabs ( BBC News article on MMR ). I have also been informed that the French manufacturers Pasture-Mareiux have a UK based office which supplies the 3 seperate vaccines but have been unable to find out anything about them.

If you have managed to obtain the vaccines seperately please let me know at the email address below. Cheers.
