Via Ferrata

This is an Italian Invention, to allow troops to traverse the Dolomite Mountains in the war time. You clip yourself onto a plastic coated wire rope, and go for it. About every 10m (less in exposed places) there is a fixing to the rock, where you need to move the sling to the next section. Using 2 Karabiners you are always clipped in. Most of the time it was well protected easy traversing.

 

 

 

 

Then it went a bit vertical. This is about 100m above the river and climbing more or less vertically

There are metal rungs that appear in just the right places to make the scramble easy.
