Most people refer
to our country as "sunny South Africa" as we have mostly clear blue sunny
skies. Johannesburg is towards the top part of South Africa and started
as a gold mining town. Johannesburg is in the Province of Gauteng
and is the financial heart of South Africa. A couple of smaller cities
(Randburg, Sandton, Roodepoort, Krugersdorp and Alberton) border on Johannesburg.
Pretoria, also called the Jackaranda city, (where Parliament is based for
six months of the year) is about 30 kilometres away.

Our summers are spent
having "a braai" (barbeque) and working in the garden. Winters are
not too cold (ranging from about 15 to minus 5 degrees celcius) and the
last time Johannesburg had any snow was in 1980 (in spring!).
I have been happily
married to my husband Wayne for 17 years and there are quite a few poems
dedicated to him on my Poetry
Pages.
I love creating web
graphics and writing poetry - not that easy when you're working full time.
I create graphics and browse the web on weekends when I have some free
time.
Most of my family
are from Cape Town, also called the Mother City, (at the bottom end of
South Africa) and we visit them about once a year. Cape Town is a
beautiful coastal city and is home to the world famous Table Mountain,
Proteas (our national flower) and Kirstenbosh Botanical Garden. Parliament
is based here for the other six months of the year.
