First Annual African-American Women Awards Banquet

This announces a "FIRST" for OUR COMMUNITIES!  On March 30, 2003, at five o'clock in the evening, at Statesville Civic Center, WHEEL will recognize distinguished African-American women in an awards banquet.  Women chosen must have made outstanding contributions in three of the following areas:  church, family, community, work/career, and/or politics
This is an opportunity for your group to express applause, praise, and gratitude to women who have given of themselves through public service, who have overcome adversity, or who have inspired others through their deeds and strength of character.

(Forms are available in MS Word Format)

WHEEL realizes that communities and society recognize many individuals and present various awards for civic accomplishments.  We admire such efforts and applaud these accolades.  However, WHEEL believes the time to recognize the courage, strength, dedication, involvement, and giving of the African-American woman is long overdue!

WHEEL, a group dedicated to the empowerment, growth, and celebration of African-American women in Iredell County, began organizing in October 2000.  Our membership includes women of various backgrounds, ages, interests, experiences, and occupations.  To learn more about WHEEL and our accomplishments, please visit our link.
