Frequently Asked Questions! Regarding the Muslim Achievement Awards:
1. Who is going to be judging the awards? The Awards will be judged by an independent panel of judges as will be outlined on the posters once distributed. They will be selected from a variety of different Islamic organisations.
2. What are the criteria? All that is required is that those brothers or sisters nominated for the specific category be achievers in that area. Once a person has been nominated and the person nominating gives details of why this person should be nominated and what they have achieved with regards to their respective field. Staff within the Islamic Institute of Sport will research to verify that all information supplied is correct and true. If so, the person is eligible for nomination.
3. Where is the MAA based? Melbourne or all of Australia or all of the world? The MAA's are based in Melbourne (Victoria). At the moment, as it is the 1st Annual event of its kind, we are requiring that nominees are based in Victoria, to make it pheasable for the IIS to do their research. Except in circumstances where a category such as "Most Popular Lecture Tour" ... in which case international guests may be nominated and the proof of their achievement is widely recognised from when they toured Australia.
4. Who is organising the awards? The awards are being organised by the Islamic Institute of Sport. A sporting body recognised by the Victorian Government which aids Muslim youth in getting off the streets and into sporting programs.
5. What are the awards? The awards are designed to recognise and acknowledge the success of Muslims with regard to their respective fields. It is designed to help increase competition amongst muslims in a healthy manner and encourage other muslims to strive to achieve for the sake of Islam. The night is also aiming to promote unity amongst various islamic organisations by having them work together ... ie; the panel of judges.
6. What is the dinner going to be? E.g. the outline of the evening? It won't be dinner. The cost is $10 per person, which includes tea, coffee and refreshments. The venue is a theatre setting so dinner will not be offered.
