You may call it Pusat Latihan Terbang 1 or Pusat Latihan Penerbangan 1, or its acronymn Pulatibang 1, or in short PLTB 1 or even 1 FTC. It used to be called Sekolah Latihan Penerbangan Asas or 1 FTS which stands for Flying Training School BUT it will always lead you to "Where It All Started", the same old place except maybe for some minor renovations. From my student days to the first day I stepped in for my second tour, we now have renovated-instructors' cubicles, new glass doors, the ever-changing students' crew room and during this second tour, a fish pond and a new bridge over the monsoon drain were built. The students' crew room was again renovated........again and again and again.......
People have come and go, come (I'm at this stage.....nearly missed the boat) and go, and, come (Romlee??) and go.........but it is always exciting, nostalgic and lots of other unthinkable feelings not forgetting memories be it good or bad, to be back at "Where It All Started". Some might be thinking twice to come back for another tour even as instructors but nobody will ever think again over the slightest chance of stopping by for a "Hi" at "Where It All Started", even newly graduated students, even after a hellish year(s). Is it because of that strong sense of belonging, the chance of telling off any instructors if they try to be funny, the pride of earning the wing, to make an appearance especially to the new students and stamp "I Was Here", OR is it simply because of "Where It All Started" ?
Sadly, some have chosen to forget "Where It All Started", and unfortunately some were being forgotten, so to keep us together again lets this be an appropriate starting point where all of us first started to have feathers. Visit our "I Was Here" if you wish to be contactable..........
