STANDING IN THE WIND

In every soul there lies a place
where some may never know,
A quiet place deep in the heart
where others may never go.
A place that yearns to be fulfilled
but how, some just can't tell.
They try their best to make it whole
yet most will often fail.
Many think they know the way that's best
to fill the need within,
Conventions of others tell them so
and yet they never win.
But every path that winds its way
to that place beneath the breast,
Can only be traveled by one alone
and not by all the rest.
To walk that trail alone sometimes
takes courage beyond compare,
And most will never have the strength
and more will never dare.
Most will fear the path less taken,
others stand idly by
Never having filled that place inside,
they ask the question "why"?
Dreaming of things that could have been
while standing in the wind,
The moment came and the moment went
and passed them by again.
