| The 9th House |
 |
As we move to the 9th house, we enter the area of life that deals
with philosophies, religion, higher education, things that are foreign and
those of long distance. This house also represents in- laws, higher courts,
science, publishing and big business. |
|
|
| Part of learning the lessons of life involves what we aspire
to become and the philosophies we hold. Education is one of the major areas
in which we gain knowledge to further careers so that we can build a better
life. The sign on the cusp of the 9th house and planets in the 9th house
indicate how we perceive education but also the type of knowledge we may
study. Aspects between the planets in the house and the house ruler show
how we will fare in obtaining education. Pisces on the cusp may indicate
studies of a spiritual nature. Leo may indicate the sports or teaching. Cancer
on the cusp may show a liking for an education in history or cooking while
Virgo prefers subjects which are more analytical such as mathematics. Jupiter
in the house may indicate great benefits from education while Saturn here
may show a limitations in gaining education. |
|
|
| As we gain knowledge and experience in life we formulate
or take on philosophies. The types of philosophies and how they are used
can be seen via the sign on the cusp as well as the planets in the house.
Pluto can show being a fanatic about your philosophies where Aquarius creates
their own. Libra indicates that good taste is a part of your outlook where
Virgo is realistic. Cancer or the Moon can indicate that you cling to
philosophies your were brought up with by parents or relatives. |
|
|
| Along with philosophy we are exposed to religion in some
form. The 9th house indicates our views in this area as well as the potential
type of religion we embrace. Saturn and Taurus in the house may indicate
a conservative view of religion; Gemini may experience several different
types of religion or bounce back and forth between them; Uranus might prefer
a religion that is counter-culture; and Aries may chose to be an atheist.
|
|
|
| The 9th house also covers long distance travel and things
that are foreign to us. Signs and planets in the house show how we feel or
react to these areas of life. Venus may love visiting foreign countries,
Mercury may learn several foreign languages or be involved in long distance
traveling. Jupiter may be open and friendly to any ethic group while Capricorn
may dislike travel and limit their interaction with foreign matters. Scorpio
on the cusp may spend time researching different cultures or finds some type
of transformation through them. |
|
|
| When looking at the planets in the 9th house always look
to see what houses these planets rule because those houses will be connected
in the way the 9th house is utilized. If the Sun is in the 9th and Leo (ruled
by the Sun) is on the 6th, you work could involve 9th house matters or your
philosophies could be formed by the services you perform. If Leo is on the
7th, your spouse could be a foreigner or you need a spouse who holds the
same ambitions and religious outlook as yourself. If Leo is on the 2nd house
cusp, you could earn money through publishing or imports/exports or your
education is gained by paying for it yourself. |
