Vinyl is one of the last bastion's of the analogue era.
Many people who visit my home are intrigued and astonished by the fact that in the year 2000, I am still using supposedly 'old fashioned' records in favour of Compact Disc.
The answer is simply this; Vinyl is an analogue recording system and to my ears gives more faithful sound reproduction than CD, not to mention much less fatiguing.
One of the other comments that I get is that Vinyl is scratchy and that you can hear many extraneous noises that don't appear with CD. Well, this is true if your LP's have had a hard life. For the most part I only purchase LP's that are in near mint condition. When you have invested a considerable (to me at least) sum in equipment to play them, the last thing you need is substandard material.
Although to some people a turntable is a thing of the past, many still think that analogue is the finest music source. A well set up turntable can sound as involving and emotional as being at a live concert and offers the sweetest sound of all sources.
work still in progress here !
