COMPUTER FUNDAMENTALS

EVALUATION

Quarter grades will be determined by the following scale:

90-100% = A
80-89% = B
70-79% = C
60-69% = D
0-59% = F

1. Participation is an in-class activity (small group lab projects, interactive discussions, hands-on computer activities, etc.) and therefore CANNOT be made up regardless of the reason for absence.

2. Daily assignment will consist of keyboard warm-ups with a timed writing each Friday. Missed timings may be made up before or after school by appointment provided the absence is excused.

3. Class projects are in-class activities (small group lab projects, hands-on computer activities, interactive discussions, etc.) and therefore CANNOT be made up regardless of the reason for absence.

4. Homework consisting of outside reading and/or research may be given as necessitated by class projects. Because homework is project-driven it CANNOT be made up regardless of the reason for absence.

5. Tests/Exams will be taken on the day announced. There will be three (3) Texts/Exams per quarter with the two (2) best scores used in computation of the quarter grade. Because some of the Tests/Exams may be laboratory or on-line in nature, make-ups are not possible.

TEXTBOOKS

Many different manuals and textbooks will be used throughout this course. The student will be expected to take excellent care of these documents.

CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS

 

  1. All software rules and regulations will be followed. Unauthorized copying of software is stealing and will be treated as such. Some of the software packages we will be using are worth hundreds of dollars and therefore mandate severe consequences.
  2. Much of the equipment we will be using is worth thousands of dollars and is often very fragile. Therefore, aggressive, inconsiderate behavior infringes on the safety of others and mandates severe consequences. Students will be held financially responsible for damage and destruction caused by irresponsible actions.
  3. Tardies are frequently more disruptive than absences. They demonstrate a lack of respect for the course and for other students. Points will be deducted from the students’ grade at every occurrence. Tardies will also have a negative impact on the citizenship grade. School policy for tardies dictate that for the third and fourth (3 & 4) tardies the student be placed on lunch detention. For the fifth (5) tardy, the student is referred to administration
