Once Upon A Hair
By Kelly Riley

Once upon a time

And many years ago
There lived upon this earth
A monstrous kind of foe

Many are its tails
Though seldom told today
So listen up my friends
Don't fall asleep I pray

I all starts with a girl
Her name none can recall
But little of the story
Had to do with her at all

For where she came into it
Was what lived upon her head
Something just so powerful
It filled children full of dread

Full of life and power
Seemed to speak when it did shined
And if looked at by the weary
It's known that they'd go blind

Many did it strangle
When they just got to near
If touched my a mortal hand
From the elbow did it sear

Bold were its endeavors
And Valiant were its deeds
But little could one ever do
So hard was it to please

Unrelenting in its prowess
It entered rooms as if a queen
Displaying all its splendor
Little else could ever be seen

I'm sure down in its depths
There are those it had sucked in
Those who ventured just to close
And against it did they sin

Many days and many nights
Warriors struggled with the foe
Countless were its victims
How long... We'll never know

But finally it was subdued
When its strength was finally spent
They discussed what they should do
As they sat about their tent

Few could think of something
What were they to do
They were running out of time
Its strength would soon renew

With udder frus-ter-ation
They grabbed a needle and a thread
They took one of the warriors
And sewed it to her head

How it struggled and it fought
Wiggled left and to the right
For many days the girls head
Had put up quite the fight

Then one day it subsided
It accepted its new fate
A new wielder of its power
A head it could ornate...

Little would you notice
And you might just disagree
That something just so scary
Had once been roaming free

But next time that you roam the streets
And see a head that catches eye
Don't be surprised if it's the one
Be nice when you pass by...
