My OE has slowed to a crawl, what's happening?

Using OE to view high volumes of HTML posting requires special maintenance.

Messages need to be deleted and files compacted on a regular basis.

Storing "keepers" in a folder within OE can also slow you down as your folder fills.  It is easiest to save your keepers to a temporary folder within OE, but periodically, you should move them to another folder elsewhere on your hard drive.    One quick method is to keep a shortcut to your keeper folder on your desktop, copy and paste from your OE folder and delete the posts out of OE.

With all of the deleting of messages, you will need to defrag your hard drive regularly.  Keep both OE and your hard drive optimized to avoid slowdowns.
