This is a picture of a unique military revolver.  Instead of being thumb cocked, the middle finger of the hand was used to draw back the lever.  Approximately 12,000 of the 20,000 were sold to he United States government early in the war.

 
This is a picture of the Le Mat revolver. It was the most famous foreign pistol during the Civil War. It has two barrels, the upper barrel held nine .40 caliber rounds and the lower barrel held .63 caliber rounds. The lower barrel acted as a shotgun and was deadly at close range.

 
This is a picture of the Colt Army Model 1860.  It was the most popular sidearm in the Union army.  It was renowned for it's interchange ability of parts.  It was a .44 caliber six shot pistol which weighed 2 pounds.

 
This is a picture of an 1851 Colt .36 caliber revolver which was nicknamed the Navy Model.  There was 215,000 of these pistols sold between 1851 and 1861.  It was a very popular sidearm for a lot of the southern soldiers during the Civil War. 
This is a picture of Starr revolver.  It was a .44 caliber, six shot double action weapon that weighed 3 pounds.  It could be loaded with loose powder and ball.  This revolver was used by the Union soldiers in the western area of the Civil War. 

 
This is a Salvo gun it is able to fire 25 bullets at a time.  It was a .52 caliber and all the barrels fired at one pull of a lanyard.  At first it used paper ammunition but later used metallic cartridges set into metal strips.  These strips were preloaded and and inserted into the the barrels and fired with one pull of the lanyard. 

 
. This is a picture of the gatling "rapid fire" machine gun.  These cleverly engineered weapons were made in all kinds of models. All were deadly at almost any reasonable range.  It could shoot up to 800 bullets out of six rotating .58 caliber barrels within a minute.

 
This is a Rifled Musket that weighed 9 lbs 3 ounces.  It was a very accurate shot from about 800 yards away. There wasn't a lot of them used in the Civil War. 

 
This is a picture of the Whitworth rifle.  It was British manufactured and primarily used by the Confederate army. This was considered by the south to have incredible accuracy. 

 
This is a picture of the Benchrest Rifle. With this gun you can accurately shoot up to 1,800 yards. It was used by sharpshooters and snipers.

 
This is another Bencherest Rifle but with a long tube telescope to see your target more clear. 

 
This is a Spencer rifle which was what brought the Union most of their success.  Spencers allowed soldiers to shoot rapid fire by moving back a lever and cocking a trigger.  This allowed soldiers to shoot 14 rounds per minute. 

 
This is a Starr Carbine rifle with a .54 caliber barrel.  It was the fourth most popular rifle used by the Union soldiers.  It also has a zero misfire rate and a high degree of accuracy

 
This is a Sharp Carbine rifle which was primarily used by the mounted troops since they had shorter barrels that much easier to handle on horseback.
