Pawns

Music:Robert Maier & Ingo Baier
Lyrics: Ingo Baier
The Earth must be mine said the little dictator
In ten years of time or maybe a bit later
So he sent out his armies with flags unfurled
In many directions to conquer the world
After three years of time they were stopped to get on
Dictator found out that he still had not won

We are just little pawns on the chessboard of fate
Born to be sacrificed for the final checkmate

The Earth must be mine said the little dictator
In seven years of time or maybe a bit later
So he sent out his spies and his secret servants
To poison their rivers and also the plants
He urged them to sabotage all industries except his own
And thought when they've finished my power has grown
And all the world depends on me as everyone can easily see
With saboteurs locked in for theft there was only one year left

We are just little pawns on the chessboard of fate
Born to be sacrificed for the final checkmate
Isn't it clear that man cannot win
So why are we trying this ultimate sin?

The Earth must be mine said the little dictator
In one year of time, no single day later
So he started to produce new deadly arms
And built bunkers to protect himself and his people
Atomic missiles should do his kin no harms
While his own ones were set to their cities
He gave governors two days to save all their pretties

We are just little pawns on the chessboard of fate
Born to be sacrificed for the final checkmate
Isn't it clear that man cannot win
So why are we trying this ultimate sin?

Governors without minds thought: "What does he want?
Together we're invincible in atomic war"
So he fired one missile after the other
Defence shot all down, no one was bothered
All missiles exploded high up in the air
But nuclear fall-out killed everyone down her

We were just little pawns on the chessboard of fate
And we have been sacrificed for the final stalemate
This chessboard called Earth has now been destroyed
Dictator is dead - who is annoyed
This desert called Earth is now no place to live
And nobody's here anymore to forgive
