At the age of 6, Shinobu was brought to Prague by Vincen, a kindly, older man who traveled the world and liked his secrets. When Vincen found him, he decided to keep his past a secret to everyone, including friends, family, and even Shinobu himself. Naturally, no one knew anything about him, nor where he came from or why Vincent was now a "father".

While very distant to others, Shinobu made one friend, David Kreugel (later known as Dead End), during his time in Prague. It was Shinobu himself who coined the morbid nickname for his youthful aquaintance.
