Shiro was trained since his early youth in the ways of the ancient Samurai warriors of his ancestors' country. Though he learned and lived by their code, he never truly accepted the ancient ways of his brothers, choosing instead to study the ever growing science of Mobile Suit development.

At the age of 16, he married his beloved Sachiko, and less than a year later, he completed his first Mobile Suit, Blue Earth. Unfortunately, while he was out testing it, OZ made its first bid for power. In the ensuing battles that took place throughout the Earth Sphere, a small group of Alliance pilots, attempting to escape OZ, put New Tokyo between themselves and their pursuers. Uncarring of the innocent lives on the colony, the OZ soldiers destroyed the Alliance pilots, the colony, and everyone onboard.

Shiro is grim and silent, rarely speaking but only saying what is vitally important. He neither seeks out friendship nor asks for it from anyone. However, he considers all who fight OZ as his allies, whether Rebel, pacifist, or White Fang, feeling that whatever is necessary to take out OZ is acceptable.
