VISITING
| Open: Daily from the beginning of March to the end of
October, from 10.30 am to 5pm (6pm on Sundays, Bank
Holidays and during July and August). Season Tickets
are available on request.

always popular with our younger visitors.
The Bemborough
Farm Nature Trail - is a very pleasant walk
around part of our 1600 acre working farm incorporating
access to part of our conservation area.

other seasonal farming activities during the year.

Dogs
are not allowed in the animal exhibition but can run
freely in the picnic area and there are kennels provided.
Parking - There
is ample free coach and car parking along with a spacious
free Drive-in Picnic Area.

The grazing animals on display
at the Farm Park will all leave the exhibition site each night to
go to much larger grazing fields, and the animals on display
represent only a small sample of our total breeding flocks and
herds.

OUR AIMS ARE...
- to provide a
stimulating and exciting educational venue
meeting the standards of the National Curriculum.

half days with specific focus to suit the needs
and abilities of your class

awareness of the importance of conservation and
respect for animals and the countryside.

pupil friendly environment reducing teacher
stress to a minimum.
Party rates are
available and many schools now take advantage of the
educational facilities provided. New teachers' packs
including curriculum based ideas on pre-visit
preparation, post visit project work and a range of quiz
sheets have proved very popular and useful.

OUR FACILITIES INCLUDE:
- TOUCH BARN - with staff available to supervise handling
of small animals, feeding lambs, identifying and handling
farm artefacts from feathers and wool to horns and
horseshoes.
- WOODLAND WALK - An excellent opportunity to learn about
native British wildlife. No wild animals in cages.
- FARM NATURE TRAIL - 1 or 2 mile walk, including our
nature reserve, a recognised SSSI (Site of Special
Scientific Interest).
- CLOSE OBSERVATION -of over 50 rare breeds of British farm
livestock breeds all seen rearing their young; sheep,
cattle, gaots, pigs, horses, poultry and waterfowl.
- PETS AND TOTS CORNER - with goats and lambs
- CHILDREN'S SHOP - the roundhouse sells appropriately
priced souvenirs for your pupils. Altrenatively, we can
pack a gift bag for each child in your class to your
chosen value.

SPECIFIC TOPIC AREAS
In addition to a general visit to the Cotswold Farm park, we
offer specific learning days or half days to suit the ability of
your pupils.
Choose from the following topic areas:-
- MINIBEASTS (KS1 and 2) - Collect and identify minibeasts,
compare habitats.
- ANIMALS AND ART (Nursery, KS1 and 2) - Direct sketching
opportunities, collecting natural objects to make
sculptures and collages.
- SENSES (Nursery and KS1) - Activities concentrating on
the different senses; what can you feel in the Touch
Barn, hear on the Blindfold Trail ?
- MATERIALS (Nursery and KS1) - Material hunt, sorting
feathers, hay, twigs etc...
- MAPPING (KS1 and 2) - Meet a tree, locate your tree.
Guided tour of Bemborough Farm Trail involving signs and
symbols.
- THE HISTORY OF WOOL AND SHEARING (Ks1 and 2) - During the
shearing season a hands-on look at wool includung an
opportunity to spin your own.
- THE HISTORY OF MILKING AND BUTTER-MAKING (KS1 and 2) -
Milking demonstration with an opportunity to make your
own butter.

TEACHERS' PACK
The Cotswold Farm Park Teachers' Pack has been
designed with the help of practicing teachers, to link the farm
to the National Curriculum. The aim is to assist teachers in
developing projects and teaching themes before, during and after
a visit.
Our Teachers' Pack contains:-
- Teachers' notes with ideas for pre-visit
discussion, visit activities and post-visit follow-up
work.
- Worksheet masters for younger and older
children which may be photocopied.
- A calendar of events on the farm.
- 1 copy of Rare Breeds in History - a 36
page A5 booklet which places all the breeds in their
historical context from the Iron Age through to the
Agricultural Revolution.
- 1 copy of the Cotswold Farm Park colour
Guide Book.
- 1 copy of the Bemborough Farm Trail
booklet - a 24 page fully illustrated guide to the farm
nature trail with maps, plans, diagrams, identification
charts and information about the Cotswold Labndscape,
farming methods, crops and rotations.
