Inferential Statistics

Data Type: Discrete Quantitative

The researcher chose this data type because he was dealing with money, which in most situations is quantitative data.

Test Used: 2-Sample T-Test

The researcher chose this test because he was comparing 2 samples of data, the Nintendo 64 games, and the Playstation games, and the data was quantitative.

Test Results

H0: There is no significant difference in the prices (m1 = m2).
a level= .05 (There were no medicines or human subjects being dealt with.)
tails: two=tailed
df= 58
critical t= 2.000
t= 2.938
p= .005

Test Results

There appeared to be a significant difference in the prices of Nintendo 64 games and Playstation games. The calculated data suggested that the null hypothesis was rejected. The calculated t exceeding the critical t by .938 and the p value being .045 less than the alpha level were reasons to reject the null hypothesis. Therefore, we must reject the null hypothesis.
