Fox Hollow Nature Trail

Mile 4.6

1-1/2 hours

A 1.2 mile circuit to an old homesite. Park in the Dickey Ridge Visitor Center parking lot. The trail begins directly across the Drive from the visitor center. Take the left fork for about 400 yards to the trailpost. Follow the trail to the right. You will pass through the remnants of the Fox homesite and circle back to the Drive, Completing the 1 1/2 hour hike. A guide booklet can be purchased at the visitor center or the trailhead. NOTE: Pets are not allowed on this trail.


Snead Farm

Mile 5.1

1-1/2 hours

a 1.4 mile round trip to an old homesite. Park at the south end of the Dickey Ridge picnic area. Cross the Drive and walk a few yards south along the Drive. Turn left onto the old road and walk around the chain gate. At the first trailpost continue straight along the old road. At the second trailpost take the left fork. At the third trailpost take the right fork. Continue on the old road to the homesite with a barn that still stands. Retrace your steps to complete the 1 1/2 hour hike. 


Lands End

Mile 9.2

1 hour

A 1.3 mile round trip to a series of small waterfalls. You start this hike by parking at the small area on the west side of the Drive. You then walk around the chain gate and follow the road until you come to a stream that will pass under the road. By walking to the right you will follow the stream Watch you step as you go down the slope until you can view a fall. Retrace your steps up the steep road to complete this 1 hour hike. 


Compton Peak

Mile 10.4

2 hour

A 2 mile round trip to a scenic viewpoint. You will need to park in the paved lot at Compton gap on the east side of the Drive. Cross the Drive and walk up the A.T. You will follow the whit blazes for 0.8 mile to a trailpost. At this trailpost take either the right or left blue-blazed trail 0.2 mile to the viewpoint. Geology buffs may like the example of the columnar jointing on the trail to the left. Retrace your steps to complete this 2 hour hike.
