A PUZZLE posed by three Japanese visitors to Carnforth Train Station has been solved by Visitor readers.
The female tourists had written comments in the station's visitor book in Japanese and tourism staff didn't know what they'd said.

Rescue
First to the rescue was Erika Ishimaru's mum Keiko, who was born in Tokyo in Japan and came to live in Lancaster 10 years ago.Erika,a Year 11 pupil at Lancaster Girls Grammar School who is doing two weeks work experience at The Visitor, asked her mum to translate.
Geoff Baines from Morecambe also helped solve the mystery. He travels to Bolton every day to his job with Hitachi making automotive parts. It's a new factory and there are 16 Japanese managers and engineers on the site posted to Bolton for three years.
Geoff said: "The Japanese people are extremely polite and have a great interest in the European culture especially the UK and its history."
He asked Mr Nobuyuki Suga, one of the engineers, to translate.
Keiko and Mr Nobuyuki Suga's translations differed slightly but the sense was the same.
So were the women's comments positive?
Keiko translated Aoi Murakami's comments as:
"I will watch the film (Brief Encounter) in Japan."
Ayano Nomura's comments were translated as:
"England was great. I will watch the film now,' and Tasuko Ono's words (a Japanese proverb) were translated as: "Travelling depends on a companion. Life depends on the kindness of others."

MORECAMBE football star Kelsuke (Kenny) Takano also solved the problem. The popular Shrimps winger's tranlsations were the same as those provided by Keiko and Mr Nobuyuki Suga's. Kenny, who was born in Tokyo is currently in England studying sports studied in Liverpool. He made history two seasons ago when he became the first Japanese player top score in the FA Cup with a stunning goal at Emley.
