In order for magick to be effective the rituals and spells need to have a special meaning for you. The best way to accomplish this is to write your own rituals and spells. You should simply use these rituals, spells, and the correspondences to assist you in creating your own. Using a spell to force someone to act against their will or to do evil is going against the law of returns and should not be attempted. Also remember the rule of three -- that whatever you do shall return to you threefold. It is alright to use spells found in books or on web pages, however, you will attain more powerful results if you write your own spells and rituals. Simply taking a spell and trying it verbatim, not knowing the full meaning of the components of that spell may result in that spell not working. The meaning, intent and energy is what makes a ritual and/or spell work, not just the verbage. When you write your own spell and/or ritual, fully knowing the meaning and significance of every word and action, your magickal working will be powerful. Know the Basics Know what magick is. Know different ways to raise, direct and ground energy. Know how to cast a magick circle. Know how to open a circle. Know the basic outline of a spell. Know the Intent or Purpose What is it you are trying to do? Before you begin any magickal working, you should have a firm understanding of what you are trying to accomplish. Know the Best Time to Work the Spell Do you know what type of spells should be worked during the waning moon, waxing moon, full moon, and the new moon? What days of the week are best for what types of spells? Learn all you can about the afore mentioned so you will know when to work your spell. Know which tools to choose and why. Know Correspondences Learn which colors will bring what results. Learn about herbs and their uses in magick. Learn about image and elemental magick and how they work.

Basic Spell Working Outline Ritual Preparation Choose a time. Decide your intent. Decide how you are going to raise energy (eg: dance, chanting, drumming, etc.) Choose how to cast and close the circle. Cleanse yourself and your magickal space. Cast the Circle Invocation of the Divine Statement of purpose This is to tell the Divine why you have called Him/Her to the circle. Magickal Working Raise energy, through whatever means you have chosen to do so. Direct or channel this energy by using the correspondences you found to fit your needs.
