Speed 400 Models
Cavazos Sailplane Design - CSD
The Switchblade S400 Race has won the US Nationals in 1997, 1998 & and now 1999 (each with a different pilot). Some of the features of this kit are: Fiberglass fuse, laser cut firewall, Composite vacuum bagged wings, and a very low build time. Some of the planes best traits are its relatively stable take-off and landing speeds, and the ability to make very tight turns without loosing speed. It is also highly aerobatic and an all around great flyer! Click on the "Cavazos Sailplane Design" name and go to his great site to find out more. |
The Twister is primarily a speed 400 "sport" plane. It can be used for fun, aerobatics, and as an entry plane for pylon racing. It's constructed the same way as the Switchblade so build time should be very low. Go to CSD's web site to find out more. |
The Skat is one of the fastest pylon racers on the circuit. The features of this kit are: Fiberglass fuse, laser cut firewall, Foam/carbon/fiberglass/balsa (read:VERY STRONG) wing, and a "T" tail. The planes is best known for its fast straight line speeds!. It was clocked at 97 mph at the SEFSD's speed trials. Not bad for an $8 motor! The Flea is a Speed 300 pylon racer. It has some of the same features of the Skat just with a smaller motor. |
The Evolution looks like it would fit the bill for entry pylon racing, and maybe with a slight modification, could be used in the "Piker" class of racing. I haven't see nor flown this plane so I can't comment on its features. So click on the "K & A Models" name to find out more. |
The Falconett MKII is an all out pylon racer. The features of the kit are a fiberglass fuse, laser cut firewall, and a foam/balsa sheet wing. I haven't flown this plane yet, so I don't know its flying traits. Click on the "Raptor Aerosports" name to find out more about this great looking plane. |
The Sliver is designed by the Adamisins. This kit has just been taken over by Dave Campbell. This plane looks like it could be a real winner. Dave is working on a web page with all the details of the kit. What I do know is that it uses a sheeted white foam wing, has a "V" tail, and is availble with a color died fiberglass fuse. To get the rest of the skinny, email Dave at: [email protected] |
The Adrenalin is a nicely molded plane brought to the States by Dymond Model Sports. I'm not sure of the materials used in this kit, but it looks like its built very strong and fast. Click on the "Dymond Model Sports" name to find out more about this fully molded plane. |
I believe the Rocket is the one that started it all. Its origins go back 7 years! That's a lot of R&D. The kits features are a built up fuse with laser cut parts for a perfect fit, the wing is white foam with balsa sheeting. This plane is a very stable and aerobatic flyer. Take offs and landings are very predictable. Click on the "Bill Griggs Models" name to find out more. |
This pylon racer has some unique building features! The wing has a saddle that locates the wing on the fuse and it gets secured with tape. No more screws to mess with! The fuse also has a built in locator for the V tail. No more alignment issues to worry about. The other nice thing is that the motor mount not only comes with the kit, it comes installed. You can also get the fuselage in four dyed colors. Contact Kevin Matney to find out more at: [email protected] |
One of a few pylon racers I've seen built like this - Fully MOLDED. The wing is hollow, and the overall craftmanship is fantastic. I havent flown this plane yet, but I've seen it go. It seems very stable and quick. Looks to be a lot of fun. Click on the "Star Flight" name to find out more. Alex will be glad to answer any questions. |
Check this one out. The VIP1. I've seen this at a few of the shows lately and it really looks great. Building this should be a snap as it is fully moulded with control rods and some linkage all ready installed. Click on the "Northeast Sailplane" name to find out more. NSP not only caries this great looking plane. They also carry a few other super pylon racers. |
This is simply the fastest plane out there! On a brushed 400 motor, you'd almost think it was flying on a brushless. Tremendous speed, and great craftsmanship! |
