The HARDY & HARDIE book does not list Julia as a child of Nahum HARDY &Mary
SMITH. However, her headstone states that she was Nahum HARDY's daughterand
is buried beside him and his wife and two of their other daughters andone of

Roy grew up and lived in Redwood Falls, MN. He graduated from RedwoodFalls High School in 1935, where he played on the football team. Heattended the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN and Dunwoody Institutein Minneapolis, MN. He enlisted in the US Navy and graduated fromOfficer Candidate School at Columbia University. He was an Ensign in theNavy at the end of WWII. He returned to Redwood Falls and worked as acontractor with his uncle Joe Mahal. He later started his own business,Redwood Ready Mix Concrete, which he owned until he sold it in 1985.Most of the curbs and gutters, basements and driveways installed inRedwood Falls after the war, were from Roy's business. He was active inthe community and was president of the Redwood Falls Hospital Board formany years. He enjoyed amateur radio. His call letters were KOZSE. Hemarried Bernadine Emma WEGNER at St Catherine's Catholic Church inRedwood Falls on July 15, 1947. They went to Duluth on their honeymoon.Roy and Bernie had three sons, Thomas LeRoy , Daniel Walter andRichard George. Bernie graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1944and the Minneapolis School of Business. She was a secretary at a lawfirm in Redwood Falls when she met Roy. After the birth of their sonThomas, she became a homemaker. Roy designed the families final home at815 Meadow Lane in Redwood Falls, that was built 1955 - 56. They bothenjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Green Lake, Spicer, MN.bernie died of cancer on August 10, 1993. Roy died of a heart attack onMarch 11, 1995.
I (Terry B. HARDY) first met Roy and Bernie at their home in RedwoodFalls, MN in about 1958. They were fine people and a pleasure to know.They are missed.
