Kevin Gadsden: Found you site very intresting. I am a phone engineer, British Telecom, working on the base getting phone cables working again. A large company has brought the site and trying to turn it into a small airport and industrial site. We have taken over blg 40 near main gate to keep our stores in. I used to work on site when I first joined B.T. in 1989. Sad to see the site as a ghost town with the buildings empty and falling to bits. Some bldgs still have pictures painted on the walls of different aircraft like Phantoms & A10's The domestic site has been sold and plans are to demolish the Bowling Ally and McDonalds for another 500 houses! Old bunglows where commander lived have been sold. If I get a reply to this E-Mail, I will send more information to you. (Thanks Kevin for the update...Jim).12/17/98

*Kenneth Gross: White Plains, NY. RAF Welford, 1982-85, 7551st ASUPS (Ammunition Supply Sq). Those three years in the UK were some of the greatest in my life. Been back a few times since (as a civilian) and know that somehow, someway I'm going to find a way to move there! Lived in Hungerford, Berks, near Newbury. Local was the "Tally Ho", but frequented the "Clocktower" & "White House" in Newbury & the "Blue Boar" in Wantage. Would love to hear from anyone who was stationed at RAF Welford, Greenham Common or anywhere else in the UK. RAF Welford (largest munitions dump in Europe, 2nd largest in world) has now reverted to MOD control and is manned by a skeleton crew. Greenham Common is a virtual ghost town, having been converted into an industrial park, some small businesses, but otherwise falling apart. Such a shame, after all the money that was poured in just a few years earlier w/the GLCM's. Too many memories to list here... Can recommend great B&B's for those contemplating a visit - especially in the Cotswolds. Cheers to all who share my fond memories of duty in the UK. Great site! Thanks 2/4/99
