I Am A Survivor

I will not allow the darkness of yesterday
to cloud my vision for today.
I will look for beauty, and find it.

I am a survivor.
Tears already shed
cannot dampen my enthusiasm for life,
nor can they prevent me
from achieving happiness today,
unless I allow them to.

I am a survivor.
The voice of yesterday�s failures,
will not tell me how I will live today.
I will not give my past the power
to determine what I can become tomorrow.

I am a survivor
I will not hold the self destructive poison
of unforgiveness in my heart,
or allow it to blind me.
I will look for the good in my fellow man,
and treat others with kindness
even when undeserved.

I am a survivor.
I will not be fearful
of what tomorrow may bring,
nor live in regret of those things of yesterday
that I cannot change.

I am a survivor.
I will not view
the obstacles before me with disdain.
I have come to understand that it is those walls
that have caused me to climb higher,
and reach further,
than I would have otherwise.
They have made me who I am.
From this point forward
I will reach for the stars,
knowing that even they are within my grasp.

I am a survivor.
I will hold my head high,
and face this day with courage,
knowing that the path I will walk today
will be illuminated by all that I have
survived yesterday.

I am indeed a survivor.
