Records of marriage licences provide information concerning some Church of Ireland marriages before 1845. Persons wishing to obtain a licence to marry without having banns called were required to enter into a bond with the bishop of the diocese. The licences and bonds do not survive, but the indexes to the bonds lodged in each Diocesan Court and the Prerogative Court are available in the LDS or Irish National Archives. The following is index listing extract from LDS.
(Betham's abstracts to Prerogative and Dublin Diocesan marriage licences give further details. Some other records of marriage licences are indexed in the testamentary card index).

Prerogative Wills:
Consistorial Wills: County Wexford is mainly in the diocese of Ferns with two parishes in Dublin and one in Leighlin. The guide to Catholic parish records in this chapter shows the diocese to which each civil parish belonged. The wills of residents of each diocese were usually proven within that diocese (see the Wills section for exceptions).
The following records survive:
Indexes. Ferns (1601-1858) (badly mutilated), up to 1800 published by Phillimore. The PRO has a copy (1603-1838) for F-V, with unproved wills 1616-1842 for W only. PRO 1A 4(16). A reconstructed copy of the index for 1800-57 (compiled by Ian Cantwell) is complete for F-T and 50 percent complete for the rest. This is also available in the PRO.
This county was served by the District Registry of Waterford. The surviving records are in the PRO.
