I am an avid bowler and bowl on two leagues; Tuesday and Friday nights, plus practice once or twice a week. It is a game that requires relaxation and focus. Show me an uptight bowler and I'll show you one that's going to have bad game. Good sportsmanship is very important in bowling; concentrate on your game and doing the best that you can, not worrying about having to win. Even if you loose; knowing that you did your best; you're a winner. Try to keep a positive attitude, even when you're not doing so good (it's not an easy thing to do), and you'll still have a good night. Get mad at yourself and everyone else and you'll not only ruin your night, but everyone else's to! The name of the game is be cool.
I started bowling on leagues in the late 60's and really got into it in the mid 70's after going through a divorce. The bowling alley was where I spent all of my free time; sometimes I'd bowl 30 to 40 games a day! I stopped bowling about 8 years ago when my wife got arthritis in her rist and couldn't hang on to her ball. Than last year we decided to try it again; she got a lighter ball (10 lbs) and did just fine. Now, at age 56, I hold a 190 average; the highest I have ever held and Nance is holding a 142; her highest.
If you like people and enjoy a night out with the guys, or your better half, bowling is hard to beat! Have a drink, talk with your friends, relax and enjoy the game.
