Puerto Vallarta is located 340 kms (211 mi.) west of Guadalajara, Jalisco
via federal highways 15 and 200 of Mexico. It is considered
to be the "most Mexican" of all the states, due to its rich traditions
and folklore. Among other things, it has given to Mexico its
traditional costume, the charro; its natural beverage, Tequila; and its
most representative music, the Mariachi. The Pez Vela International
Tournament is celebrated in Puerto Vallarta every two years.
Puerto Vallarta offers good hotels and restaurants where one can taste
both regional and international cuisine. Handicrafts made of
wood and palm as well as "rattan" furniture, can be purchased.
This Municipality is located at the West of the State of Jalisco.
It bounds to the State of Nayarit by the north; to the Municipality of
Cabo Corrientes and Talpa de Allende, by the south. In the
east it bounders itself to San Sebastian del Oeste and Mascota, and in
the west to the Pacific Ocean. Beaches

The weather in this Municipality is considered humid, but winter and spring are dry and warm. There is no specific winter season. Temperature averages around 25.6 C (80 F), and the average precipitation in a year is of 86 in. Rains fall in June, July and August. Wind blows in the southwest direction. Puerto Vallarta has literally miles of beaches, ranging from lively shores at the seaside resorts to isolated strands under the cliffs along the Bahía de Banderas. Adventurous types will want to explore along Highway 200 to the south or along the Punta de Mita road to the north, where the most unspoiled beaches are to be found. Puerto Vallarta is very easy to reach by air, land, and sea. Vallarta has connections with the most important international and Mexican airports. By land, PV has a panoramic highway that connects the city with the rest of the country. Vallarta offers a first class marina which welcomes cruise lines like Princess Cruises, Royal Cruise, Royal Caribbean, Holland American Line, the Compagnie Francise, and Royal Viking cruises along with yachts and sporting boats. With over
15,000 hotel rooms of every category, and more than 120 dining and entertainment
establishments to choose from, you are sure to find a place to fit your
